China’s clean power generation tops 1 trillion kWh

China’s cumulative annual renewable energy generation surpassed 1 trillion kilowatt-hours (kWh) for the first time, jumping by a third over the same time last year as the country races to meet its climate pledges for 2030. About 13.8% of electricity consumed was generated by the new-energy sector, 2.14% higher than last year. Among all renewable energy sources, wind power took the lead with total electricity generation of 586.67 billion kWh, up 40.8% year-on-year. Power generation from solar expanded 24.3% to 300.9 billion kWh and from bioenergy, 23.4% to 148.0 billion kWh.
