Blogger Ordered to Pay Smartphone Brand Honor $13,500 Over Critical Reviews

A Guangzhou court ordered a blogger to pay smartphone giant Honor Device Co. Ltd. more than 86,000 yuan ($13,530) in damages for posting a series of reviews critical of the company’s devices on Weibo, in part because they had not used the products.
Honor accused the blogger, who was only identified by the surname Jiang, of slandering the company in order to attract traffic and grow their fan base on Weibo, a popular microblogging platform, where the blogger was said to have more than 100,000 followers.
