Hong Kong Reports More Cases of Rare Bacterial Disease

Hong Kong has reported 29 melioidosis cases in 2022, including six deaths from the rare bacterial infection, more than any year on record, according to the city’s Center for Health Protection (CHP).
Fifteen of the cases were detected between August and October, the health authority said Wednesday. Initial investigations found most of the patients had underlying diseases and immune deficiencies.
