Exclusive: Former China Guangfa Bank Chairman Detained

Dong Jianyue, a former chairman of China Guangfa Bank Co. Ltd., has been detained for suspected severe violations of the law, along with several people close to him, sources with knowledge of the matter told Caixin.

Authorities from the northeastern province of Liaoning detained the 61-year-old in Beijing on Sept. 20, the sources said.

Dong’s detention is chiefly related to financial risk events in Liaoning, which may involve issues during his tenure at Guangfa or the Liaoning branch of Bank of China Ltd. (BoC) (601988.SH), they said.
