What’s new: The Chinese foreign ministry announced Tuesday the expulsion of a Shanghai-based Canadian diplomat in a tit-for-tat response to Ottawa’s move declaring a Chinese envoy as persona non grata over alleged foreign interference activities.
Jennifer Lynn Lalonde, a consul of the Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai, has been asked to leave China by Saturday, following a formal complaint and strong protest to Ottawa by Beijing, according to a Chinese foreign ministry statement.
