An official investigation into the deaths of a young Chinese couple at a Bali hotel has concluded that 25-year-old Li Chiming killed his girlfriend before taking his own life. But many Chinese social media users are unconvinced, as some details of the supposed murder-suicide remain unexplained.

Indonesian police released the results of their weeks-long investigation on Wednesday but did not answer questions about the multiple wounds on Li’s body and behavior that seemed to indicate he wanted to live. This has sparked a new wave of speculation on Chinese social media about the truth of their deaths.
