The Communist Party of China has appointed a new chief of the Communist Youth League (CYL), ahead of the league’s twice-a-decade national congress.

A Dong, former vice governor and publicity department director of Jilin province in Northeast China, is the new first secretary of the Secretariat of the CYL Central Committee, according to an update on its website Thursday.
