China and the U.S. should prioritize making progression on the guiding principles of their relations to help both sides move forward on the right track, former Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Cui Tiankai said at a security forum Monday.

The agreement to advance with talks on the guiding principles was one of the consensuses reached during U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang in Beijing last month.
