China recorded its hottest year in 2023 with a stretch of record-breaking temperatures and extreme weather throughout the year, highlighting growing concerns about global warming and climate change.

The average temperature last year reached 10.7 degrees Celsius (51.3 Fahrenheit), surpassing the previous record of 10.5 C in 2021 and making it the highest since records began in 1961, according to the National Climate Center (NCC).
