What’s new: Chinese senior foreign relations official Liu Jianchao met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday in Washington, as the world’s two largest economies continue efforts to put bilateral relations back on track.

Liu, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, emphasized at the meeting that both sides should work with each other to promote stable, healthy and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations, according to a statement published by the department Saturday .
