A novel multidrug-resistant human fungal pathogen with a high transmission rate is spreading in China, a recent study showed.

Researchers from institutions including Tongji University and Fudan University in Shanghai and Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou found 182 infection cases of the potentially fatal Candida auris last year, compared to single- and double-digit levels in the previous seven years.
