What’s new: The families of the Chinese mainland fishermen whose boat capsized in the Taiwan Strait last week traveled to Taiwan-governed Kinmen Tuesday to bring back the surviving crew members, Beijing authorities said.
The announcement came after two fishermen aboard a boat from the eastern province of Fujian drowned while being chased by Taiwan coast guard in the waters near Kinmen on Feb. 14. All four crew members fell in the sea. The two survivors were detained by Taiwan authorities.
