Fatah and Hamas have expressed “political will” to reach a reconciliation through dialogue, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Tuesday, as the two rival Palestinian groups, who are divided on the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, met in Beijing for talks.
“[The two parties] had discussions on many specific issues, and made encouraging progress. They agreed to continue this dialogue process so as to achieve Palestinian solidarity and unity at an early date,” said Lin Jian, a spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at a press briefing. Lin, however, did not specify when the talks took place.
