A former vice justice minister is being investigated by the top anti-graft watchdogs, the authorities announced.

Liu Zhiqiang, who served as vice justice minister from 2016 to 2023, is being probed for “serious violations of discipline and law,” according to a one-line statement from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) published Tuesday. The phrase is commonly used as a euphemism for corruption.
