Honda, Nissan Eye Merger by Mid-2026

(Nikkei Asia) — Japanese automakers Honda Motor Co. Ltd. and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. announced on Monday that they plan to set up a joint holding company by around August 2026, with the aim of developing electrification and software integration rapidly to stay competitive on the global market.

The two companies the same day signed a memorandum of understanding on integrating management under a new holding company. The goal is to conclude negotiations and sign an agreement by June 2025.
