A rundown of the news making headlines in and around China:
U.S. blacklist: Washington has added dozens more Chinese entities to a trade blacklist. The batch of 54 companies and research institutions is the first addition to the so-called Entity List under the second Trump administration, signaling a continued effort to curb tech exports to China. Among the names are subsidiaries of Inspur Group Co. Ltd., which the U.S. authorities identified as China’s leading cloud computing and big data service provider and is already on the list. The six units are accused of acquiring or trying to acquire U.S. products to develop supercomputers for the Chinese military. Washington adds companies to the blacklist based on national security or foreign policy concerns, with Chinese entities typically listed for alleged involvement with the military. U.S. companies need to apply for and obtain a license to sell to listed entities. Nettrix Information Industry Co. Ltd., Suma Technology Co. Ltd. and Suma-USI Electronics Co. Ltd. were also among those newly added — each related to developing supercomputers.
