Liu Xiaotao, a 55-year-old official with extensive experience in China’s top economic provinces, was elected governor of Jiangsu on Tuesday, making him one of the country’s youngest provincial leaders.
His appointment by the provincial legislature caps a swift rise, following his appointment as acting governor on Oct. 9 and his designation as the provincial government’s party group chief on Sept. 30.
