Former Chinese Heavy Machinery Executive Sentenced to 15 Years for Bribery

A Chinese court sentenced Lu Wenjun, a former senior executive at one of the country’s largest state-owned heavy-machinery manufacturers, to 15 years in prison for taking 67.98 million yuan ($10 million) in bribes.

The Xiangtan Intermediate People’s Court in Hunan province handed down the sentence on Monday, imposed a 5 million yuan fine and ordered the confiscation of Lu’s illicit gains. The case makes Lu the 31st centrally administered official to receive criminal punishment in 2026, highlighting Beijing’s continuing anti-corruption campaign. That campaign recently saw former defense ministers Wei Fenghe and Li Shangfu receive suspended death sentences.
