China is overhauling its blood donation law for the first time in nearly three decades, raising the age limit and shortening the wait time between donations as the country faces a widening supply shortage.
The National Health Commission is revising the 1998 Blood Donation Law to ease the strain of dwindling donor numbers and rising clinical demand fueled by an aging population. Lei Haichao, director of the commission, announced the regulatory push on Monday.
