Beijing Rainstorm Death Toll Reported to Rise

(Beijing) – Residents in Beijing say more bodies were found in the aftermath of a heavy rainstorm, several days after an official death toll announcement.

One day following the July 21 rainstorm which engulfed the city in record levels of rainfall, the Beijing municipal government said 10 people had died as a result of the storm. By 5 p.m. that day, the figure was revised to 37 deaths. Officials say the death toll is still being calculated.
