Punishments for People Offering Bribes Outlined

(Beijing) – A recent judicial decree for the first time sketches out punishment for people paying bribes to officials.

The document, named the Interpretation on Several Issues about the Application of Law for Criminal Bribery Cases and issued by the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate on December 31, put those paying bribes into three categories: ordinary, severe and especially severe. The punishments range from detention to life in jail.
