Rail Cargo Services Continue to Lose Steam

(Beijing) – Demand for rail cargo services have dropped in the past two months as official data indicated a sharp decline in the volume of goods transported.

In the first 11 months of this year, China Railway Corp. (CRC) transported 2.5 billion tons of goods, down 11.6 percent from the same period of last year, data from the state-backed company running the country's railroads show. Freight volume dropped by almost 15 percent year on year in November, followed a 16.3 percent decline in October.
