President Xi Jinping presented the country’s highest honor in science and technology to two military technology experts Tuesday morning.
Liu Yongtan, 82, was awarded for his achievements in the field of radar technology. Liu is a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Qian Qihu, 81, was honored for his contribution to national defense projects, particularly explosive weapons including nuclear bombs. Qian is a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Last year’s awards went to gunpowder expert Wang Zeshan and virology expert Hou Yunde.
