China will face top-ranked Iran in the Asian Cup quarterfinals, after Iran survived a first-half scare from Oman in their match on Sunday.

China itself looked soft early Sunday against Thailand. Led by legendary Italian coach Marcello Lippi, the Chinese national team came from behind to beat the Thais 2-1.

China will face Iran at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The match begins Thursday at 8:00 p.m. local time (12:00 a.m. Friday morning China time).
