A group of Chinese car-makers is hopping on the mixed-ownership reform bandwagon in partnership with China Unicom, one of the nation's three wireless carriers.
Unicom has announced it is working with the the group, which includes Dongfeng Motor and Guangzhou Auto Group, in the self-driving car sector.
Unicom is offering its partners stock in China Unicom Smart Connection Technology Company Ltd., one of its subsidiaries that specializes in online intelligence as part of the collaboration. The tie-up will see Unicom's ownership of the unit drop to about 69%, with the other partners getting shares in the company.
