Li Dong, director of industrial equipment at China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, is under investigation for suspected “serious violation of regulations and law” — a phrase frequently used as a euphemism for corruption — the Communist Party's top disciplinary watchdog said Tuesday.

As director of industrial equipment, Li manages the auto, watercraft, and aviation industries, as well as the machinery manufacturing industry.
