Wuhan Is Officially Free of Any Asymtpmatic Coronavirus Cases

What’s new: The Wuhan Municipal Health Commission announced on Tuesday in a statement (link in Chinese) that the city has been declared free of all asymptomatic coronavirus cases, marking the city’s full recovery from its coronavirus outbreak.
The commission said the last three people out of a total 300 asymptomatic cases were discharged from medical observation after they tested negative twice for the new coronavirus. There were no recorded transmissions of the infection between asymptomatic cases and healthy people, although the city will continue the strict management of asymptomatic cases, according to a commission statement.
The background: The central Chinese metropolis said earlier this month that they had found no confirmed Covid-19 cases in the way of a sweeping testing program of its entire population of about 10 million residents between May 14 and June 1 , but a total of 300 asymptomatic cases had been discovered.
Wuhan was the hardest hit Chinese city during the pandemic and reported a total of 50,333 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 3,869 related deaths, accounting for the vast majority of deaths in China. The city reopened on April 8, with people’s lives now gradually getting back to back to normality, after 76 days of lockdown.
