China State Shipbuilding Corp. Ltd. (CSSC) has signed a nearly $6 billion deal with QatarEnergy to build 18 ultra-large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

A subsidiary of the state-owned giant will design and build the “QC-Max size LNG vessels,” each with a capacity of 271,000 cubic meters, according to statements from both sides on Monday.

The Qatari state-owned energy firm also announced eight of the vessels will be delivered in 2028 and 2029, while the others will be delivered in 2030 and 2031.
