China’s Communist Party leadership has scheduled the next plenary session of its top graft-busting agency for mid-January, according to the official Xinhua news agency, signaling a continued tightening of political discipline as the country enters a new economic planning cycle.
The Politburo, the party’s elite decision-making body presided over by General Secretary Xi Jinping, decided on Thursday to hold the fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection from Jan. 12 to 14, 2026, Xinhua reported citing a communique released after the gathering.
