China Consumer Inflation Climbs to Near Three-Year High

China’s consumer inflation rose at the fastest pace in nearly three years in December, while factory-gate deflation eased more than expected, suggesting that price pressures were stabilizing at the end of 2025.
The consumer price index (CPI) increased 0.8% from a year earlier, up from 0.7% in November and the highest reading since early 2023, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Friday. The result matched the average forecast in a Caixin survey of economists.
