China’s Space Insurance Consortium Covers Over $1.4 Billion in Private Launch Risks

A Beijing-based insurance consortium has provided more than 10 billion yuan ($1.47 billion) in coverage for 25 private commercial space launches in its first year, according to the local financial regulator, underscoring growing financial support for China’s space industry.
The group, established in March 2025 under regulatory guidance, is China’s first co-insurance platform dedicated to commercial aerospace. It brings together insurers and reinsurers to share risks across rocket manufacturing, launch and recovery.
