Hou Wailin, a former securities regulator and ex-chairman of a major Chinese state-owned conglomerate, is under investigation for suspected corruption nearly three years after retiring.
China’s top anti-graft watchdog announced the news Thursday. Hou was taken away by Guangdong authorities in early July, people familiar with the matter told Caixin.
The probe into Hou underscores Beijing’s relentless anti-graft campaign sweeping the financial and state-owned sectors.
