China appointed Zhao Chenxin as acting governor of Hebei province, installing a veteran economic-planning official less than 18 months after he was transferred from Beijing, as the northern province prepares for a provincial Communist Party leadership reshuffle next month.
Zhao, 57, succeeded Wang Zhengpu, who stepped down as governor at age 63, Hebei’s provincial legislature said Sunday. The Communist Party’s central leadership also named Zhao deputy party secretary of Hebei, while Chen Shaobo, the executive vice governor of Heilongjiang province, was transferred to Hebei as vice governor and deputy head of the provincial government’s party group.
